Candle Care Guide
At InshForYou, every candle is handcrafted with care to make your everyday moments a little more special. Follow these simple candle care tips to enjoy your candle safely and get the best burning experience.
01 Before Lighting Your Candle
- Trim the wick to approximately ¼ inch (6 mm) before each use.
- Place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
- Keep the wax surface free from dust, debris, and wick trimmings.
- Keep your candle away from fans, open windows, and direct drafts.
02 While Your Candle Is Burning
- During the first burn, allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface, where practical, to help prevent tunnelling.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep the candle away from curtains, paper, and other flammable materials.
- Keep burning candles out of reach of children and pets.
- Avoid moving the candle while it is lit or while the wax is hot.
- Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
03 How to Extinguish Your Candle
- Use a wick dipper to gently push the burning wick into the melted wax until the flame goes out.
- Carefully lift the wick back up and straighten it so it remains upright and centred.
- Allow the wax to settle and the candle to cool before handling or relighting it.
- Avoid blowing out the flame, as this can produce smoke and scatter hot wax.
- Never use water to extinguish a candle.
04 After Every Burn
- Allow the candle to cool completely before moving it.
- Trim the wick to approximately ¼ inch (6 mm) before the next burn.
- Remove any wick debris or other particles from the wax once it has cooled.
- Stop burning a container candle when approximately ½ inch (1.3 cm) of wax remains, or follow the product-specific instructions.
05 Storage & Maintenance
- Store your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.
- Keep the candle covered when not in use to preserve its fragrance and protect the wax from dust.
- Natural variations in colour, texture, and finish may occur in handcrafted candles.
06 Important Safety Precautions
- Never leave a burning candle unattended or fall asleep while it is burning.
- Keep candles at least 3 inches (7.5 cm) apart from one another.
- Never touch or handle hot wax.
- Discontinue use if the candle container cracks or becomes damaged.
- Decorative and sculptural candles may require a heat-resistant tray and may behave differently from container candles. Always follow the specific instructions provided for your product.
